If the answer is yes! Then let’s talk Body Composition…
Unhealthy body composition and excess body weight often lead to obesity, which is associated with serious health issues including:
Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Metabolic Syndrome, Back pain, Certain types of Cancer, Excess fatigue, sleep apnea, Stroke, High Cholesterol (Lipids), Diabetes, Kidney and Liver Disorders and more.
A “traditional” approach to improving body composition includes exercise and reduced caloric intake. However, “dieting” and “calorie counting” are not the best way to lose weight!
One study comparing a “nutrition-based” program for weight loss to a “traditional” diet that included over-the-counter diet drinks, shakes, energy bars and other processed products in combination with calorie restriction showed dramatically different results. Persons on the traditional diet lost the majority of their weight from muscle rather than body fat – despite being recommended the same foods and exercise routine as those on the professional nutrition-based program. The goal of weight loss should be to lose fat weight and increase muscle weight thus reducing your size overall.
